The relationship between the I AM Presence, the Christ self and the Conscious You
Question: Please tell us more about the relationship between our I AM Presence, Higher self, Christ self and us. In the given teachings the I AM Presence is called either our Father or they say that it has not ascended yet or is our Higher self. By what criteria does the I AM Presence provide us with energy, knowledge, etc.? How does the I AM Presence communicate with us even if we do not hear it? What exactly does the Christ self do? Why is it necessary to give up the Christ self in favor of other people?

Answer from the Ascended Master Mother Mary through Kim Michaels. This answer was given during the 2024 New Year webinar.

Well, we have already given extensive teachings on this and especially at the Korean conference where we gave teachings on the I AM Presence and how the I AM Presence communicates. What we can say is that, to give a brief summary, that at the lower levels of the path, your Conscious self is so focused on the outer personality, the outer selves, that you cannot make a direct connection to your I AM Presence. That is where the intermediate self, which we have called the Christ self, comes into the picture. And the Christ self is created by the ascended master that works most closely with your lifestream. It is an intermediate self that helps you connect to the Christ self. But you will also see if you look back that our talk about the Christ self was given at a time when we had not given the teachings about the Conscious You. When you come to the point where the Conscious You starts becoming more aware of itself, becoming more aware that it is not the outer selves, then the Conscious You no longer needs the Christ self because it can connect directly with the I AM Presence without anything in between.

Then you naturally give that up, and the ascended master who extended that Christ self can then help another person who is beginning to walk the spiritual path. You must realize that people who are not walking the spiritual path, in a sense do not really have a Christ self, because they cannot even make use of that. There is always the Christ consciousness that they can connect to so that they have the opportunity even at the lowest level of consciousness to see the illusion there. But it does not mean that an ascended master has sponsored, as we might say, that lifestream by extending a part of itself as the Christ self. That only happens when people reach a higher level of consciousness and start the spiritual path in earnest. In terms of how the I AM Presence communicates with you, at the lower levels of the path, you might receive worded communications from your I AM Presence. It could be a warning, for example, not to do this or not to do that. But as you again become more aware of yourself as the Conscious You, as neutral awareness, as not being the outer personality, the I AM Presence stops doing this because it does not want you to see it as an external self.

At the lower levels of the path, you can only conceive of your I AM Presence that way. That is why, for example, in previous dispensations, they had a chart of the I AM Presence where you had you as the lower figure and the I AM Presence was high above you. In the I Am Movement, they did not have a Christ self, in the Summit Lighthouse they did have a Christ self. But as you become more aware of yourself as the Conscious You, you need to actually let go of the chart because you do not want the image in your mind that there is this gap, this distance between you and the I AM Presence. You want to begin to experience that the I AM Presence is here with you, is all around you. It is in a higher vibrational realm but it is still all around you. And therefore, the I AM Presence does not want to reinforce the sense of separation by being the booming voice that talks to you from without. It gives you, either this small still voice within, or it gives you just a frame of reference, a certain energy that helps you evaluate what is the higher energy, what is coming from the outer selves.

And this also means that the I AM Presence can change how it releases energy to you. At the lower levels, it might release energy to help you in a difficult situation but at the higher levels, it will not release an energy that makes you feel like some exterior force is doing something for you. It will be that the I AM Presence expresses itself through you as you are open to it. And this requires a switch of the mind where you now realize that you actually, you can only experience the I AM Presence. At the lower levels, you have a mental image of what the I AM Presence is. At the higher levels, you realize, you experience the I AM Presence as it is expressing itself through you.
